What is Hypnotherapy?
So most people when they see or hear the word Hypnotherapy, they imagine a swinging pendulum or a watch . That is ‘‘old school Hypnosis” and, it is very different from todays Solution Focused Hypnotherapy.
Short and sweet, “it is talking therapy with a deep relaxation”.
We will look at where you are today, what is troubling you. We will not look at what the cause is because that is irrelevant. What is relevant is where you are, where you want to be and what are you going to do about it.
So Solution Focused Hypnotherapy will give you clarity on who you are and where you are, what is it that stops you from living how you want to?, what’s getting in the way?. What changes need to be made?. Then you will make those small changes one by one until you feel you are where you want to be . You get a relaxation ( trance) also to end each session, where you relax, listen to my voice, you learn, you open your eyes, you take action, make some changes for the better. What you do after hypnotherapy sessions is up to you . You have total control, nothing or nobody else does. What you put in is what you get out of it.
What is trance?
Have you ever driven to a regular place daily and got there and said, “I don’t remember that journey at all, I was gone into a world of my own” or, gone for a run, listening to music and gone off into a space where you are thinking away, or while reading, or watching television?. How many people use the term “ walking around in a trance?”. We are gifted enough as humans to drift off in and out of a space where our sub-conscious and conscious minds come together and allow us to look at things logically, practically and generally positively. We come out of that later, feeling relaxed, fine, un-hurt and are likely to go off and do those tasks or actions that we thought about whilst in that daze. Well that is “Trance”.
So in a nutshell…
“Trance is a deep relaxed state where your conscious and subconscious minds come together and are accessible to pick up direction, advice and suggestions to improve the way you think and behave. The relaxed state of mind is in the intellectual part of your brain and makes you feel great afterwards and generally more productive.
Do I lose control during trance?
NO you do NOT lose control during trance, you are actually the total opposite. You are fully IN CONTROL of your thoughts, behaviours and actions.
I am not going to try to sell you jargon. What you get is me, straight talking, no marketing. I just enjoy helping people and love to see the changes as they progress through the sessions each week.
In Solution Focused Hypnotherapy sessions I use Psychotherapy questions and answers and plan goals and then guide the client into a lovely deep, deep relaxation ( aka Trance) for 20-25 mins at the end. Using language techniques I take the client deeper into the relaxation while, the language patterns target their sub-conscious which responds subconsciously. These suggestions are positive, constructive, tried and tested, and successful language patterns and metaphors and are part of the healing therapy.

Can I overcome my anxieties?
Stress is one of the main causes of many, many mental and physical conditions including high anxiety. How ever anxiety presents itself to us, it is generally linked to our stress levels. So if you are struggling with un-controllable anxieties, panic attacks, sleep disturbances, stomach or bowel issues, migraines, fears, phobias, menopause symptoms, grieving, or struggling with self confidence, self esteem, low performance and many more, they are all triggered by the same thing, ‘STRESS’ and of course, stress could be triggered originally by something else either past or present. It is not what is happening in your life that’s the problem, it is how you react to it and deal with it that is key. Anxiety is in us all as a protector but if we get a build up of stress over time, such as, trauma, negative thinking, negative behaviours, it takes control and we get in the vicious cycle with one culprit, STRESS. Keep the stress low and you keep the conditions away.
So whether you are aged 11 to 111 , my personalised, effective Solution Focused Hypnotherapy sessions are here to help you start making some changes. Whatever your anxieties are, this can be resolved by positive change.
How many sessions will I need?
The amount of sessions a person needs varies. It depends on the person, the issue and, what you get out is based on what you put in. There are no set rules but we usually aim to do around 8-12 sessions then assess as we go if we need less or more.
Can I block book at a discount?
Yes I offer block bookings of 6 or 8 at a discounted price which is good for finances and an extra incentive for you to ensure you commit to the sessions. I will also refund any un-used sessions if the sessions are completed in less time than originally planned and you have been discharged.
Alternatively if you require more sessions after the 8 , these can be block booked at a discount again or pay as you go at individual session price. You can see my fees here
Do you have an initial Consultation and am I obligated to continue afterwards?
I offer a FREE Initial Consultation but I do ask for a retention deposit of £20 which will be refunded back to you after the session or if you decide to continue with sessions, I can deduct it from the ongoing agreed price.
You are not obligated to continue at all, the session is free . If you do continue, you will take away my MP3 to listen to as part of your ongoing sessions. Nobody so far has decided to not go ahead. The Initial Consultation is a light bulb moment to how our brain works and controls us on a daily basis. It gives us encouragement to get our control back once we know we can and can feel extremely liberating.
It’s so easy these days to make an appointment and then at the end of the day think “ I cant be bothered” or “ I am too tired” and if you haven’t paid anything yet either, its even easier to just not show up.
So often we therapists have people booking in with us with every intention of attending. Then at x:oclock we join the online zoom call, coffee, pen and note book in hand or, we sit in our clinic watching the clock fingers move and still no client. 30mins later, still no client. Then when we realise we have moved another client to make way for this new client who said they desparately needed help, or we have made arrangements personally to make way for this client that hasnt showed up with no whatsapp message, no text or phonecall. We think a holding fee is a small contribution for the lost time and hopefully, an incentive for the client to push themselves to attend..
Why do you charge a holding fee for Initial Consultation?
