What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?

Client-Centered Approach

A therapist works with the client to identify their goals and develop strategies to achieve them, empowering the client to take an active role in their own change.

Focuses on the Present and Future

Solution Focused’ Hypnotherapy (SFH) looks at what a client wants to achieve and how they can move towards that future, rather than dwelling on past issues.

Positive and Solution-oriented

Focuses on the positive aspects of a client's life and their ability to create change, encouraging a sense of hope and optimism. SFH draws upon the principles of Solution Focused Brief Therapy ( SFBT), which identifies solutions, building on successes, and focusing on small steps towards a desired future.

How will we work together?

Identifying the positives

After the Initial Consultation session, every session that follows start with getting you to recognise the goods and positives in your life. You will be surprised how you may have none at the start and finish the session with a long list. The aim is to get you to acknowledge “what is “good”.

Answering present and future-oriented questions i.e. What if something had changed for the better, what would it be? Why is this important? what would be different?. These kinds of questions help you stay focused on how you can change and improve your mental well-being. Hypnotherapy encourages you to visualise and realise change, giving you a sense of hope for a better future.

Setting Goals

In each session I will work with you to define clear and specific goals to move you further towards the desired achievements and to help you live the life you desire.

Relaxation/Trance

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy incorporates deep relaxation/trance techniques, which are used to create a relaxed and focused state to help clients access their positive subconscious mind and make changes.

This is everyone’s favourite part. You will sit or lie, in the comfort of your own space, while I use language pattern techniques to guide you into a state of deep relaxation known as trance. This is where you will use visualisation as instructed as you go deeper into relaxation. Clients have said they have really imagined more than they normally can whilst in this state of relax.
